Sabrina |
Acoustic
singer Sabrina had a very productive and fruitful 2012. During the past year, she
has released two albums, Acoustic Love
Notes and I Love Acoustic 5, both
under MCA Music. She also continued to reap the success of her previous albums
from the I Love Acoustic series as
she was given a handful of awards for amassing sales of over 175,000 units all
over South East Asia .
I
last saw Sabrina during the 25th Awit Awards where she was awarded I-Gateway Mobile Philippines Inc.'s Most
Downloaded Artist for 2011. While her acoustic covers of popular foreign songs
have been her bread and butter, Sabrina has recently expanded her musical horizons by starting to record original material and also by writing her own songs and eventually including them into her albums.

For
the Acoustic Love Notes album
featuring popular radio personality Joe D’Mango, Sabrina has recorded a new song Sa Bawat Paghinga. This track, written by Toto Sorioso, was used as
the theme song for the Philippine broadcast of the Korean television series
Angel’s Temptation. Also included in this album is One True Love, the first time ever that Sabrina has recorded one of her
own compositions. Finally and long overdue, Sabrina now has a couple of tracks (including Over for Now But Not Forever which she also wrote) that she can proudly call her own. But she doesn't stop here.
In
her latest release, I Love Acoustic 5,
another Sabrina composition, Oh Boy
is included and it’s touted as a prequel to One True Love. Another notable track in this album is her English
version of a popular Indonesian song, Could
It Be. Originally recorded by Indonesian pop star Raisa, Sabrina’s version
features Thai saxophonist Koh Mr. Saxman. Judging from Sabrina’s popularity in Indonesia ,
this track could become one of her biggest hits there. Speaking of big hits in Indonesia ,
Christian Bautista, another Filipino artist who made it big there joins Sabrina
in the track Terrified which is
originally recorded by Katharine McPhee and Zachary Levi. It will be very
interesting to see how both artists’ Indonesian fans respond to this
collaboration. A music video for this song is scheduled to be released soon.
Sabrina’s
I Love Acoustic 5 is now out in
record stores nationwide under MCA Music. Terrified and the rest of the tracks
are also available as digital downloads over at MyMusicStore Philippines
and iTunes. I Love Acoustic Sweetheart
Edition, a 35 track package compiling Sabrina’s first two albums are also
available in the market as well.
