Celebrating 11 years in the industry, the Silly People’s Improv Theater (SPIT) and the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) proudly present the Manila Improv Festival 2013 happening this June 26-30, 2013 at the PETA Theater Center. This festival, adopting the theme Follow Your Feet will also feature various improvisational theater groups from countries such as China and Japan.

The festival’s move to the PETA Theater Center marks the return of the art form to its roots in the country. PETA first introduced improvisational theater to the Philippines in the early 1970’s. And through this venue, the art of improv will have a chance to have a bigger audience which is a huge step that SPIT undertook as it looks forward to its second decade.

SPIT, headed by artistic director Gabe Mercado, is the country’s premiere improvisational theater group. The group has represented the country in various international events and festivals such as the Los Angeles Comedy Festival in 2004, and in the Hong Kong and Beijing Improv Festivals.

The Manila Improv Festival 2013 comes at the heels of the 1st Manila International Improv Festival in line with SPIT’s 10th year anniversary celebration. This year, the second edition of the festival aims to create a new, fun, and exciting theater experience for improv enthusiasts and generally anyone who wants to have a good time and learn something new.

The improv groups participating this year include the People's Liberation Improv and 3 Dudes Improv from Hong Kong, Beijing Improv from Beijing, Taichung Improv from Taiwan, Xiamen Improv from Xiamen, Zmack from Shanghai, Pirates of Tokyo Bay from Tokyo and the Silly People’s Improv Theater from Manila. For each set, three improv groups will perform a variety of long form and short form improvisational shows.
