The National
Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA), with the generous support of the
National Commission for Culture and the Arts, has been a principal instrument
in discovering major music talents from all over the country. Its project
involves some 1 million musicians, trainors and administrators, in a long and
tedious process of selecting the best among them from all seventeen regions,
annually. NAMCYA has a three-fold program: discovering and developing young
Filipino musicians from every region of the country, carried through annual
competitions, workshops and training, as well as expanding Filipino music.
