Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s principal cellist Pei-Sian Ng joins the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra in their concert happening on February 13, 2015 , 8:00 PM at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’
Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater).
To
be performed at the concert are Antonín Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104, B. 191 and Béla Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, Sz. 116, BB 123.
PPO’s principal conductor and music director Olivier Ochanine conducts.
Born
in Sydney , Australia ,
Pei-Sian Ng began his studies in Adelaide
with Barbara Yelland and later with Janis Laurs at the Elder Conservatorium of
Music. He then won the prestigious Elder Overseas Scholarship to study under
Ralph Kirshbaum at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester ,
where he was awarded the RNCM Gold Medal.
Ng
has appeared in important music festivals including the Brighton ,
Edinburgh , Manchester International
Cello Festival, Kronberg Academy ,
Mecklenburg-Vorpormmern Festival and the Adelaide International Cello Festival.
He has performed next to Yo- Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, Cho-Liang Lin
and Renaud Capuçon. He
is a currently a faculty member at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music,
Singapore. He performs on a 1764 Giovanni Antonio Marchi cello.
