Zia's A Little Bit of Lovin’ Media Launch

Zia

I’ve always said many times before that my only complaint regarding Zia’s self-titled debut album was that it was too short for it only had six tracks. Now, there’s no reason for me to complain for there are ten tracks that make up Zia’s sophomore album entitled, A Little Bit of Lovin’ released by Polyeast Records.

A Little Bit of Lovin’ lends Zia’s refreshing and jazz influenced alto voice to more varied music styles like blues, rock, rap and folk. This album displays a lot of texture and color via organic music arrangements highlighted by guitar and trumpet solos. All this showcases Zia’s growth as an artist in such a short amount of time in the music industry.

Zia teams up once again with Jungee Marcelo for the album’s lead single Pasakalye and Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo which is the theme song of the movie of the same title. Marcelo was the man behind Ako Na Lang, Zia’s breakout hit from her previous album and now considered as her signature song. Zia shows that she can follow Marcelo’s footsteps in composing through four tracks namely Under and Over, On the Run, the album’s title track, Little Bit of Lovin’ and Sweet Memories. An unusual set of covers, the White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army and Asin’s classic Masdan Mo Ang Kapaligiran, both chosen by Zia herself reveals her diverse music tastes. And probably my favorite track in the album, Katulad ng Iba, sees Zia collaborating with rapper Gloc-9. This song was previously released for an anti-bullying campaign and it pleased me very much to have it included in this album.

Another thing I noticed in this album is that Zia smiled a lot more in the photos included in the packaging compared to the photos from her previous album. And it’s a lot more colorful as well. I may probably be looking too much into things but I feel like this is another way, aside from the music, for Zia to show more of herself. And because of this, I won’t be surprised if this album gets more than just a little bit of lovin’ from listeners, old and new alike.

Zia's A Little Bit of Lovin', released by Polyeast Records is now available in record stores nationwide. Pasakalye and the rest of the tracks are also available for downloading via MyMusicStore Philippines and iTunes.
