The UST
Conservatory of Music and the Ayala Museum present returning Korean singers
soprano Yun-Kyoung Yi and baritone Daesan No in an evening of great singing and
beautiful music at a concert entitled En-Chant-E
happening this March 27, 2014, 7:00 PM at the Ayala Museum.
At
the concert En-Chant-E, the two will perform arias from composers like Giuseppe Verdi, Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart, Richard Wagner, Charles Gounod, Vincenzo Bellini, Gaetano
Donizetti, Georges Bizet, among others. Collaborating artist
will be pianist Najib Ismail. Both Yu-Kyoung Yi and Daesan No were last seen in
Manila at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’
critically acclaimed production of Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata in 2012.
Soprano Yun-Kyoung Yi is a second prize winner of the 37th
Bellini International Vocal Competition in Italy .
She has performed in Bulgaria ,
Cuba , Japan ,
US, Mexico , Italy ,
and South Korea ,
to name a few. More recently, she was
invited to perform and to teach Opera Singing to the students of El Sistema in Venezuela .
Baritone Daesan No is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory
of Music and the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia and has performed the
role of Falstaff in Tanglewood under
the baton of Seiji Ozawa, the lead role in Rigoletto
and Leporello in Don Giovanni with the
Lyric Opera of San Antonio, Scarpia in Puccini’s Tosca and Escamillo in Carmen
with the New York City Opera and Opera Grand Rapids. He had performed with the
BBC National Orchestra at the Barbican Hall in London ,
the Montreal Symphony, and the Mexico Symphony Orchestra at the Palacio de
Bellas Artes.
