Red Turnip Theater continues to make its mark in the theater scene as they present Time Stands Still as their second
season ender on the weekends of January 30-March 8, 2015 at Whitespace in Makati .
Written
by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Donald Marguiles, Time Stands Still tells
the story of photojournalist Sarah who is forced to return home with her
journalist boyfriend James after sustaining injuries from war-torn Middle
East . Red Turnip founder Ana Abad Santos finally takes to the
stage as she plays Sarah while versatile theater, television, and film actor
Nonie Buencamino is set to play James. Completing the cast are Nor Domingo and
Giannina Ocampo who play Richard, a longtime friend of the couple and his much
younger girlfriend Mandy respectively.

The
play follows the couple’s love story as they negotiate a more ordinary life,
far from the thrills of a battleground. Yet the comforts of urban
domesticity—the simple pleasures and small compromises—can be a minefield of
its own. Time Stands Still is a
blazingly important play about responsibility - to ourselves, to our loved ones,
to our community, and to our world.
Rem Zamora
directs this production, marking his second time to be at the helm following last
season’s Cock. The rest of the
creative team includes John Batallia for lighting design and technical
direction, Denis Lagdameo for set design, Marta Lovina for production and
costume design, and Toni Muñoz for music and sound design.
Time Stands Still premiered on Broadway
back in 2009 and was a hit prompting a second run on that same year. It
garnered nominations for Best Play and Best Performance by a Leading Actress
for Laura Linney at the Tony Awards.
Red Turnip Theater is founded by Ana Abad Santos, Topper Fabregas, Jenny Jamora, Cris
Villonco and Rem Zamora and this production of Time Stands Still is a continuation
of their promise to present more stimulating straight plays following their previous
acclaimed productions of Closer, Cock, and Rabbit Hole.
