The search is on for the Philippines’
best young pianist at the 4th Philippine Steinway Youth Piano Competition happening this
June 30, 2018 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium located at the RCBC Plaza.
The 4th edition of
this biennial event is the biggest so far with 17 pianists competing in three
categories (Category I for 11 years old and below, Category II for ages 12-14,
and Category III for ages 15-17). Among the winners of each category, one
pianist will be awarded as the overall winner and he/she will get to represent
the country at the Regionals in Taiwan. The winner at the Regional stage will go
on to represent South East Asia at the International Steinway Festival 2018 in
Hamburg, Germany.
The schedule of the competition
are as follows: Category I at 8:30 AM, Category II at 10:30 AM, and Category
III at 1:30 PM.
Who among the 17 young musicians
will represent the Philippines and join the ranks of past winners of the
Philippine Steinway Youth Piano Competition namely Lorenzo Medel (2012), Nathan John
Torento (2014), and Hansel Ang (2016).
