Celebrating Japanese language, culture, and more at the Nihongo Fiesta 2024 at the Shang


The search is on for the next Nihongo Speech Contest champion at the upcoming Nihongo Fiesta 2024 this February 24, 2024, 1:00 PM at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong.

Nine finalists from all over the country will battle it out in the competition which is a much anticipated highlight of the Nihongo Festival 2024, a celebration of Japanese language and culture presented by the Japan Foundation Manila.

Aside from the speech contest, other events to look out for are the screening of Minna no Nihongo Fiesta comprising of photos submitted from various educational institutions in the country, a medley performance by the UP Philippines-Japan Friendship Club (UP Tomo-Kai, and the Ryukyu Buyo, an Okinawan traditional dance performance happening at 7:00 PM at the Shang's Grand Atrium.


There will be an additional Ryukyu Buyo performance happening on February 25, 2024, 3:00PM & 4:00PM at the Upper Ground Atrium of SM Aura.

The Japan Foundation Manila's Nihongo Fiesta stands as a celebration of the enduring camaraderie between the Philippines and Japan, serving not only as an event but as a cherished tradition that fosters deeper connections between the two nations. It provides a fertile ground for the flourishing community of Nihongo speakers and enthusiasts, welcoming individuals from all walks of life, from eager language learners to seasoned professionals, to take part in an immersive arts and cultural experience unlike any other.
