It has been a few years since I last saw Dingdong perform a piano concerto (Tchaikovsky's) so it will be great to see him on stage to perform this very popular piece by Rachmaninoff that includes one of the most romantic tunes ever written.

Hear rocking new tunes by your favorite OPM artists as they participate in Ballet Philippines’ celebration of Andres Bonifacio’s 150th birthday anniversary in Rock Supremo, an exceptionally inspiring presentation co-produced by Rock Ed and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).

The second production in Ballet Philippines’ 44th season IllumiNATION commemorates the life and legacy of the Filipino nationalist and revolutionary from September 20 to 22 and 27 to 29 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines' Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (CCP Little Theater) and September 24 and 25 at the GSIS Auditorium.

Rock Supremo throws a spectacular modern celebration of the Katipunan Supremo’s life, creatively taking his story into the 21st century. This production is also supported by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

Rico Blanco, Ebe Dancel, Peryodiko, Dong Abay, Kai Honasan, Peso Movement, Gloc-9, Sandwich, Pedicab, Radioactive Sago Project, and Tarsius produce all-new songs especially for this production. The music will be available for free digital download courtesy of Rock Ed.

EJ Arisola

Featuring choreography by Ballet Philippines Artistic Director Paul Morales and distinguished choreographers Alden Lugnasin and Dwight Rodrigazo, Rock Supremo reveals Bonifacio in the three most pivotal points in his life: his childhood, his romantic relationships, and his significant role in the revolution.

Founded in 1969 by Alice Reyes with the support of Eddie Elejar and the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Ballet Philippines is the country’s premier dance company and is known worldwide for its repertoire of classical and modern pieces. Its school, the CCP Dance School, continues to produce dancers of international caliber.

Sam Concepcion’s Infinite Press Conference

Sam Concepcion

Sporting a new look and a more mature sound (as well as an impressive biceps), Sam Concepcion sets his sights towards an international market with the release of his latest album, Infinite. One of the rare and genuine triple threats in the Philippine entertainment scene, Sam showed exactly what sets him apart from his peers during a press conference held at the Insomnia Bar and Restaurant.

Released by Universal Records, Infinite is a collection of 10 tracks featuring mostly up tempo, R&B and dance music by an impressive line up of composers, producers and collaborators. The album is led by the single No Limitations, composed by Billy Crawford, Kris Lawrence and Marcus Davis. The song’s edgy music video features Solenn Heussaf and its production values make can make it appealing to the foreign market. Someone who has already penetrated the foreign market (specifically Indonesia), Christian Bautista, contributes the song Love, Love, Love for this album. Originally recorded as a duet between Christian and Sam, Rescue You is also in the album but now as a solo track for Sam. Other songwriters and collaborators appearing in the album are JayR for I’m the One, Q-York for She Drives Me Crazy, RunManila and Dello for Di Ka Nag-Iisa, and Tippy Dos Santos for Panalangin which was featured in the film I Do Bidoo Bidoo.

The current single Mahal na Mahal, an Archie D original, has just been recently released. This version had some updates in the arrangement like making it more contemporary and by including a key change towards the end while retaining the overall flavor and feel of the original.

Clearly, Sam, his label Universal Records and his management Stages Talents are looking forward to releasing this album in territories outside the Philippines. I do hope that the tracks in Filipino will still be included in the international editions of Infinite. If Korean songs can find their way in here, there’s no question that the Filipino songs in this album with their infectious melodies can hook foreign listeners.

Sam Concepcion’s Infinite, released by Universal Records is now out in record stores nationwide. No Limitations and the rest of the album tracks are available for download via MyMusicStore Philippines and iTunes.
