The Cultural Center of the Philippines has unveiled the year long celebrations for its milestone 50th Gold Anniversary from September 2019 up to September 2020.
CCP will sport a new look via the new typeface called Baybayan. A portmanteau of baybayin (to spell) and bayan (nation), this typeface incorporates the traditional writing system predating the Spanish colonization and the modern Filipino alphabet. This typeface will be used in all collateral regarding the 50th anniversary celebrations of the CCP like posters, flyers, souvenir programs, merchandise, etc.
A sound and light installation at the CCP front façade, Ginintuang Singing, by Toym Imao and Pampanga lanternmakers will be on view. By day, the installation will look like swirling clouds, but by night, it will light up and spell out the CCP's motto Katotohanan, Kabutihan, and Kagandahan in various writing styles including the baybayin.
For the general public, watching shows and productions at the CCP gets a lot easier with the 50 shows for free and 50 shows for just P50 throughout the anniversary celebrations. People far from CCP need not fret for resident companies will be touring extensively in various parts of the country as well.
Another highlight are the conventions, conferences, and Arts Market Fair by the Federation for Asian Cultural Promotion (FACP), Manila International Performing Arts Market (MIPAM), and the Association of Asia Pacific Performing Arts Centers (AAPPAC) to be hosted by the CCP. These activities will enable artists, performing groups, and other creatives expand their reach into a broader international market.

Finally, the new 300 seater black box theater, Tanghalang Ignacio Jimenez, will be inaugurated during the year long celebrations. May this new performance space keep the ball rolling for the completion of the expansion plans of the CCP that includes a large theater and rehearsal spaces/studios among other things.
The countdown begins for CCP's 50th Anniversary and it will be a golden time for sure with way more than 50 reasons to celebrate.
